What is “Surprise Me!” and When Should You Choose It?
At Craftcloud®, we strive to give you the best offers possible. This includes a mysterious – and sometimes more accessible – color option for some 3D printing materials.

For additive manufacturing technologies like FDM, SLA, and MSLA, you’ll find a wide range of materials available to suit different use cases and budgets.
After you upload your file and select the technology, material, and finish, you’ll be prompted to select the color. Depending on your choice, you might come across “Surprise Me!” (or the multicolor design).
This is a great choice if you aren’t looking for a specific color, be it because you’re intending to paint the 3D print later or because it will serve a functional end and the part won’t be visible – or if you simply want to be surprised.
For some materials, it can be among the cheapest color options, as the 3D printing service provider chooses the color, which could be rarely ordered or already loaded on the machine. For FDM, it may also mean a spool change, with the color changing halfway through the print because the manufacturer ran out of one color and welded on another. Because of these reasons, it can also reduce setup time and material waste for the manufacturer.
So, for parts where the material’s color isn’t particularly relevant to its intended use case, choosing “Surprise Me!” can provide even more advantages.
